Three Miller School human resources employees have been awarded the 2010 Employer of Choice Award from Keiser Career College. The employees, Janet Alford, Alina Sanchez-Garcia and Juanita Hernandez, were recognized for their continued support of the college's Surgical Technology Program.
"As an employer, you have provided unlimited employment opportunities for our graduates and have been instrumental in their success as professionals in their field of study," wrote Maria Carlos, director of student services at Keiser's Miami Lakes location, in an award letter to the three UM employees.
The awards were presented at an August 6 ceremony.
Alford, human resources manager at the University of Miami Tissue Bank, says the two institutions have formed a mutually beneficial partnership, which has resulted in jobs for many of Keiser's students.
"In recruiting for technical positions in our recovery, processing or materials management divisions, Keiser College has been a valuable and reliable source of technically-trained, high-quality employees," Alford said. "The relationship we have developed has proven to be a tremendous asset for the UM Tissue Bank."
Alina Sanchez-Garcia, medical human resources director for recruitment programs, and Juanita Hernandez, senior recruiter for talent acquisition and retention, have worked closely with the college to facilitate career fairs for placement in specialized fields.
"We are honored Keiser has recognized us as representatives of UHealth and the Miller School," Sanchez-Garcia said. "As a world-class health system, UHealth is constantly looking for the most talented people in various medical fields, and part of our job is to help support and maintain the pipelines that provide us with key employees."
