Dean Goldschmidt Named Business Leader of the Year

Wexford Science and Technology, a privately held real estate investment and development company, and the Urban Research Park CDE presented the Overtown Youth Center with a $100,000 donation on June 14. The generous donation will be used to fund programs that help students achieve academic, fitness and social goals. Wexford Science and Technology is building the first phase of the University of Miami Life Science and Technology Park along NW 7 Avenue in historic Overtown.
UM Pediatric Cardiologist Honored by Greater Miami Jewish Federation

Michael S. Kapiloff, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of pediatrics in the Cardiovascular Division, received the 2010 Stanley C. Myers President's Leadership Award from the Greater Miami Jewish Federation during its 72nd annual meeting on June 2. The award, named for the late founding president of the federation, is given annually to dynamic young Jewish leaders who have demonstrated outstanding service to Miami's Jewish community.
New Online Course: “Introduction to Velos”
The Offices of Research Education and Training and Research Information Management have launched a new online course titled "Introduction to Velos." The 30-minute course is recommended for new clinical trial investigators and coordinators, research nurses and study personnel who manage patients and anyone else desiring to learn more about the Velos eResearch system.
