Over 47 Million Americans Face Food Insecurity–How You Can Help This Holiday Season

More than 47 million people in the U.S. face hunger and food insecurity, meaning they lack access to sufficient, nutritious food to meet their basic needs. According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), over 14 million children in the U.S. experience hunger annually. In 2022, more than 49 million Americans turned to food assistance programs for help.

As you make plans with friends and family, or on your own this holiday season, consider donating time, food, or money to Feeding South Florida. This organization partners with Feeding America to provide food assistance, resources, and support to individuals and families in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe counties. Feeding South Florida relies heavily on volunteers to serve the community daily. They welcome individuals, families, groups, corporate teams, and community organizations to join them in fulfilling their mission.

Take Action: Feeding South Florida provides opportunities for service-learning hours, team building, and private group sessions. Explore and sign up for their upcoming opportunities.

If you or someone you know needs food assistance, visit the Feeding South Florida Directory of Programs for a list of food pantries in the area.
