UM Caregiving Study Heading into Second Wave
UM employees who are also caregivers have another chance to learn about ways to reduce their burden. The Center on Aging will be hosting a luncheon on Monday, March 22, at noon to provide appropriate information and support, as well as introduce the UM Working Caregiver Study.
Sara Czaja, Ph.D., professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and co-director of the Center on Aging, was awarded a Retirement Research Foundation grant in 2009 for "A Psycho-Social Intervention Program for Working Caregivers." The study is now open for its second wave of enrollment.
The goal of the study is to improve the health and well-being of caregivers and the ability of caregivers to balance employment and work responsibilities. The study will provide basic skills, available resources, links to helpful programs, and a calendar of events. Stress, a key factor in the lives of caregivers, will also be addressed as participants are taught stress management techniques and methods of using social support.
For more information or to RSVP to the luncheon, please send an e-mail to CLee@med.miami.edu or call 305-355-9200.
