Free Webinar: “Genetic Screening for Breast Cancer: Understanding Your Breast Cancer Risk and Options"
To mark the end of breast cancer awareness month, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is hosting its first free webinar on "Genetic Screening for Breast Cancer - Understanding Your Breast Cancer Risk and Options." The webinar will be held this Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Many factors play a role in the development of breast cancer, including genetics. Certified genetic counselor Talia Donenberg, M.S., C.G.C., and breast cancer specialist Monica Yepes, M.D., member of the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute at Sylvester, will lead participants through a presentation about the roles family history and genetics play in this disease. They will discuss the process of genetic testing, who might be a good candidate for testing, the best approaches to early detection, and the options and breakthrough treatments for fighting breast cancer.
