Calder Library Co-Hosts Safety Fair
This Thursday, the Louis Calder Memorial Library will partner with the Miami-Dade Public Library System to bring you the "Keep Your Family Safe: Emergency Preparedness at Home and Away Safety Fair." Sponsored in part by an award to Calder Library, issued by the National Library of Medicine's National Network of Libraries of Medicine, the fair commemorates national safety month. Representatives from Calder Library will disseminate information on and give demonstrations of the National Library of Medicine's disaster preparedness databases and websites, such as MedlinePlus, TOXNET and WISER, and provide information on family disaster plans prepared by the Miller School's Center for Disaster & Extreme Event Preparedness. Representatives from the Miami-Dade Public Library System, National Safety Council, Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue Departments, the Alliance for Aging, and other county organizations also will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hispanic Branch library, 101 West Flagler Street, Miami. For more information, please contact Geddy Paulaitis at 305-243-6783.
