DOCS Health Fair
Paulina Wolff and Dr. Jennifer Walton, both pictured left, recently participated in a new initiative at the DOCS Health Fair led by Julia Finster, pictured center, a first-year medical student in the Maternal and Child Health Pathway. Inspired by her work as behavioral therapist, Julia spearheaded a new pediatric screening and patient navigation initiative aimed to assess developmental milestones, behavioral concerns, maternal mental health, and family risk factors. Families will have the opportunity to be connected with resources whether or not their child screens positive. The program is expected to become a sustained feature of DOCS health fairs.

As growing numbers of youth and young adults with IDD transition from pediatric to adult systems of care–and as adults with IDD navigate persistent service gaps–this event will shine a light on the critical mental health needs too often overlooked in mainstream systems.
Through evidence-based approaches and real-world stories, this event brings together a diverse community of health care providers, mental health professionals, families, and advocated to participate in this important dialogue.
