Dr. Juliana Acosta is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and a clinician-scientist at the Mailman Center for Child Development. After completing her residency and postdoctoral fellowship at the Mailman Center, she now directs the Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Childhood Anxiety (PCIT-CALM) program and serves as the attending psychologist in the interdisciplinary Pediatric Sleep Clinic. A central part of Dr. Acosta’s role in these clinics involves training and supervising psychology practicum students, residents, and fellows, shaping the next generation of child psychologists. Dr. Acosta's commitment extends to the community through her involvement with Team COACH (Children Optimally Achieving Comprehensive Health) and Project SEW (Social Emotional Wellness). In these roles, she develops training programs and provides expert consultation to community agencies funded by The Children's Trust, helping them to effectively implement parenting programs and boost organizational social-emotional wellness. Dr. Acosta's research explores the critical intersection between pediatric sleep and mental health. Her work also focuses on improving access to and engagement with evidence-based parenting programs, exploring program implementation strategies that promote family-centered, culturally responsive care for high-need families.
