Drs. Daniel Messinger and Michael Alessandri Lead UM’s Effort in the Next Gen Sibs Autism Project

The University of Miami is proud to join the international Next Gen Sibs Project, a groundbreaking study following infants and toddlers who have an aunt or uncle with autism. Led locally by Dr. Michael Alessandri, Executive Director of the Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (CARD) and Dr. Daniel Messinger, Research Director at the Linda Ray Intervention Center, the project uses developmental assessments, parent interviews, and innovative social-attention tools to better understand early signs of autism in children with higher familial risk.
