Clinical Professor of Orthopedics
Dr. Brian Grottkau is the Shriners Endowed Professor of Pediatric Orthopedics with dual appointments in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Miami and Jackson Health System where he also serves as Chief of Pediatric Surgical Services and Chief of Pediatric Orthopedics at Holtz Children’s Hospital. Dr. Grottkau specializes in treating scoliosis in children, adolescents, and young adults, along with a broad range of pediatric orthopedic conditions. Dr. Grottkau is a leading developer of Anterior Vertebral Body Tethering, a minimally invasive, motion-preserving surgical technique that offers children normal spinal function while treating idiopathic scoliosis. His collaborative work on orthopedic conditions that affect development in children and collaboration with the specialists in pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation and developmental specialists at the Mailman Center are closely aligned with the priorities and mission of the Mailman Center.
