Mark your calendars! The University of Miami's Seventh Annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition is scheduled for Thursday, February 9, 2023, and the Fifth Annual Graduate + Postdoctoral Research Symposium will be on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

CIMAS meteorologist Jun Zhang and collaborators were able to send an Altius drone into the eyewall of Category 4 Hurricane Ian. The information they gathered could help improve hurricane intensity forecasts.

The Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC) has extended the deadline to November 7, 2022, to apply for their Fellows Program. IDSC Fellow is a prestigious designation awarded each year to four graduate and undergraduate students. The Foreign Policy for America (FP4A) is now accepting applications for its NextGen Initiative. The NextGen Initiative is a premier network of next-generation foreign policy leaders (between the ages of 21-35 years old) committed to advancing principled American engagement in the world. Cohort members benefit from four pillars of activities: knowledge building, political engagement, professional development, and social connections. Official University records must utilize your official, legal name, but you are welcome to input a Preferred Name in CaneLink for it to appear on your instructors’ class rosters, ’Cane Card, etc. Once you’ve entered a Preferred Name in CaneLink, you can obtain a new ’Cane Card free of charge if you return your current ’Cane Card at the time of your request.
