Mandatory testing for students who come to campus

Students who will be on the Coral Gables or Marine campus at any point during the remainder of the fall semester will be required to take a COVID-19 test every two weeks through the UScreen Testing Initiative.

 

Get your flu shot by November 16, 2020

As part of our response to COVID-19, students, faculty, and staff on all campuses will be required to receive the seasonal flu vaccine this fall. Flu shots are available at the Student Health Service and all students must have their flu shot by Nov. 16, 2020.

Access to campus buildings

Beginning Monday, September 21, all students, faculty, and staff will need to swipe their ’Cane Card to access any Coral Gables or Marine campus building with a card-reader mechanism on it. Students may obtain a ’Cane Card in person at the ’Canes Central office on the first floor of the Student Services Building.

Job opportunity: Graduate assistant position for Racial Justice Pilot Grants

The University of Miami’s Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, Office of Civic and Community Engagement, and the Butler Center for Service and Leadership are proud to launch new Racial Justice Pilot Grants to support research and/or programmatic activities that center on race, racial justice and racial equity. To assist with this project, they are seeking a graduate assistant to support their grant programmatic efforts. The Graduate Student Assistant will work 20 hours per week. The term of the position will be from October 12, 2020 to June 1, 2021 and may be renewed annually. Apply by Tuesday, September 29, 2020.

The Department of Special Collections is hosting Deep Dives, an online series of webinars that offer an informative, enticing, and educational look into a selection of images that are representative of materials in Special Collections.

Faculty Showcase 2020: Navigating the New Teaching Landscape

The fall of 2020 has brought unprecedented challenges for higher education classrooms across the country, and the University of Miami is no exception. This year’s Faculty Showcase entirely online event on October 22, 2020, will recognize faculty members’ efforts to adapt to the new teaching landscape, including hybrid, remote, and fully online teaching. Sign up for the Emergency Management training sessions

The Office of Emergency Management is offering zoom training sessions for both the Hurricane Preparedness and the All Hazards workshop. Sessions are free to attend for all students and offer various opportunities to enrich the understanding and contribute to the overall preparedness to respond to campus emergencies. All courses this semester will be held via Zoom online. Apply for a grant for the Department of Energy

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science is now accepting applications for the Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program 2020 Solicitation 2. The goal of the Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program is to prepare graduate students in STEM careers critically important to the DOE Office of Science mission, by providing graduate thesis research opportunities at DOE laboratories. Applications are due 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on November 12, 2020.
