MyUHealthChart Unites Information Technology and Excellence in Patient Care

A MyUHealthChart brochure will be available to patients in several UHealth clinics where the electronic medical records system is being implemented.
In just two weeks, UHealth will launch MyUHealthChart, a component of the UChart electronic medical records system that will allow patients of the University of Miami Health System to manage their health care from anywhere, at any time.

MyUHealthChart.com will be launched in the first group of ambulatory clinics on Tuesday, May 18, giving patients access to portions of their medical records. "With MyUHealthChart," says Dean Pascal J. Goldschmidt, M.D., "we are transforming the patient-physician experience, not only at UHealth, but ultimately across South Florida."

The secure portal will enable patients to view select lab results, request appointments, review their medications and immunizations, and request prescription renewals. Patients also will be able to communicate via e-mail with their UHealth physicians and clinical support staff.

"With this innovation, we're providing even greater continuity of care through the UHealth system," says William O'Neill, M.D., executive dean for clinical affairs.

Starting May 18, patients will be given an access code during their clinic visit and can then create their own user ID and password to use MyUHealthChart.com.

The first ambulatory clinics to begin offering MyUHealthChart are the third-floor cardiology clinic at University of Miami Hospital and Clinics (UMHC); first-floor dermatology clinic in the Out-Patient Department at UMHC; first-floor head and neck clinic at UMHC; third-floor internal medicine clinic at UMHC; sixth-floor neurology clinic at the Professional Arts Center; and the pediatrics clinic in Kendall.

Starting July 13, all hospital and practice-based clinics on the Miller School campus, except ophthalmology, will begin offering MyUHealthChart to patients as the rollout of the UChart ambulatory component of the electronic medical records system continues. Satellite clinics will begin offering MyUHealthChart to patients August 10.

"MyUHealthChart takes UHealth into another realm of health care,'' Dean Goldschmidt says.

Beginning in December, patients will be able to schedule appointments, register online and pay their bills electronically through UChart.
