The Patricia A. Whitely Women's Leadership Symposium brings the University of Miami community together to empower and celebrate women to create positive change through leadership, community and wellness. This year's theme, "I am, She is, We are enough," helps participants appreciate their personal passions, strengths and achievements within a global community of extraordinary leaders. S.T.E.P. Oxfam Hunger Banquet

The students of S.T.E.P are proud to present the Oxfam Hunger Banquet to promote the awareness of income disparity and poverty in Miami and all over the country. We are not only looking for people to attend, but also we are accepting volunteers to help us with the event! Join us on March 24th at 1PM in the Shalala Student Center Ballroom East. Craft for Kids!

AFK/GOOD Collab Art Studio

The AFK/GOOD Collab Art Studio is a special fundraising event for both Nicklaus Children's Hospital and Lotus House. Join us on Friday, March 22nd at 8pm in Biscayne Room 1220. Students must either bring a $5 donation for Nicklaus OR a donation item for Lotus House (NEW pads, tampons, razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant) for entry into the art studio.

Indian Students Association: HOLI

HOLI IS BACK! Come celebrate with Indian Students Association on Saturday, March 23rd from 12-3PM on the Green and enjoy tons of FREE food and a great time throwing color and water balloons. First 100 students get free t-shirts!

 
Participate in a Disaster Simulation

Canes Emergency Response Team

Volunteer to be a victim at the semi-annual CERT Disaster Readiness Exercise on Saturday, April 6th at 2:30pm and get a free T-shirt! CERT is a group of students that trains to assist the campus and surrounding community in the event of a disaster. In this role, you will serve as simulated victims of a disaster and will have an opportunity to critique our responders following the exercise. Educate Yourself About Health

HUHM Streamline Miami Health and Field Day

Volunteer at the 2nd Streamline Miami Health and Field Day on Saturday, April 6th at 8:30AM. Healthy U Healthy Me is excited to bring 200 students from Streamline Miami to engage in a fun day of learning and fitness. This year we will be focusing on nutrition and physical fitness throughout the health and day. There will be a variety of events and volunteers will get to interact with the students directly throughout the day! Sign up HERE!

Watch An All-Inclusive Queer Fashion Show

LGBTQ: GenderChill

GenderChill is an all-inclusive queer fashion show that is sponsored by GradOUT, UM’s graduate LGBTQ student organization. The show will be held on March 27th, 2019 at 7PM in the Shalala Student Center Ballrooms. It is a consciousness-raising event for gender diversity and body positivity with a social justice lens, and it is a benefit for PFLAG South Miami, dedicated to the awareness and education of gender diversity.

Offer Tax Assistance In Our Community

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

Each Saturday from 10am-2pm we prepare taxes for the community at Goodwill Industries of South Florida. Volunteers do not need to be law students and they don't need to have any tax background! We need volunteers who are able to assist taxpayers in filling out intake forms with basic questions and we need translators, as most of our clients are Spanish-speaking. Raise Awareness For Cystic Fibrosis

Crossing For A Cure

Crossing For A Cure founder Travis Suit’s inspiration for this endeavor is his daughter Piper, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of 4. This 80-mile crossing from Bimini, Bahamas to Florida is open to recreational and competitive paddlers on standup or prone boards, outrigger canoes, surfskis, kayaks or dories. This year’s Crossing is scheduled for June 15, 2019. Ready for an adventure? Form a paddler relay team! Not so sure? Put together a team of “virtual paddlers” and follow the journey from launch to landing. Please email ali@pipersangels.org with any questions!

Spring Scholarship Deadlines!

Office of Academic Enhancement Scholarships

The Academic Enhancement Research Fellowship provides funding to allow students to pursue activities which will enhance their undergraduate experience outside of a traditional classroom setting. The Bob Moore Scholarship provides need-based, financial support to currently enrolled, undergraduate students at the University of Miami targets students from traditionally underrepresented communities, recognizing their academic and leadership accomplishments. The Plus One Scholarship is a program of educational enrichment that offers University of Miami undergraduates a tuition-free year or semester beyond the normal number of years required to complete an undergraduate degree. Learn more and apply HERE!
