Dear Resident,

We hope you had a restful Thanksgiving break and are prepared to finish strong in these last few weeks of classes. Although it is still the fall semester, many of you have already started to think about your housing for next year. We received feedback from students and families about last year’s housing sign up process and conducted our own focus groups. From this, we were able to make improvements for the 2023-24 housing application and selection process.

Below are the highlights of the Housing Application and Selection Process for 2023-24:

  • Appointment times will be generated at random rather than utilizing an individual’s housing/enrollment deposit date. These times will be emailed directly to students in the afternoon on February 10 for University Village and Lakeside Village. Appointment times will be emailed to students in the afternoon of February 20 for Eaton Residential College.
  • Roommate groups will be tied together throughout the selection process and unable to break apart until after the process is complete. In the past, students were able to break from their groups creating some confusion and at times inadvertently left out roommates in the middle of the process. You will be able to adjust your roommate groups up until the application closes on Feb 9 at 11:59 pm.
  • You will be able to view room availability and helpful tutorials on what to expect prior to your selection appointment times.
  • Juniors and seniors will only be eligible to live in University Village allowing space in Lakeside Village for rising sophomores only. Additionally, juniors and seniors will not be able to join sophomore roommate groups in Lakeside Village. Please make sure you take this into consideration when creating your roommate groups.
  • Once you have completed the entire housing application, including indicating your preferred roommates, meal plans, and housing prepayment, you will receive a confirmation email.
  • If you were not able to select a room during the process, you are able to join multiple waitlists depending on your preference. Joining multiple waitlists increases your chances of receiving a housing assignment.
  • HRL has hired a new assignments representative focused on supporting students and their families looking for off-campus accommodations. For more information regarding off campus housing resources visit offcampus.miami.edu.

If you are interested in living on campus next year, we strongly encourage you to attend one of the five information sessions HRL will be hosting via Zoom. These sessions will review the signup and selection process along with answering any questions you may have.

For the 2023-24 academic year, the housing application for continuing students will be available in the portal beginning February 3 at 12 p.m. and will close on February 9 at 11:59 p.m. Continuing student housing room selection will take place February 15 thru February 21, starting with University Village, Lakeside Village, and then Eaton Residential College.

All this information and more can be found on our Housing and Residential Life website.
