New Proposal Exception Policy Starts June 1

Dear Colleagues,

The University's Application Deadline Policy was created to ensure all faculty receive timely and thorough reviews from the Office of Research Administration (ORA). The policy requires that all proposals be submitted to ORA a certain number of days prior to the application deadline, with limited exceptions for late applications.

To facilitate and formalize these exceptions, a new proposal exception policy, developed collaboratively with faculty, will be implemented on June 1, 2021. Beginning June 1, proposals not submitted  three days prior to the application deadline (five days prior to the deadline for the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs) will not be accepted for review or submission unless a documented approval is included in the proposal.

Exceptions will be granted in very limited circumstances, as detailed in the attached policy and on the ORA website

Please direct any questions or concerns about the policy to Laura Kozma, Associate Vice President of Research Administration.
