A goal I’ve had since I arrived at UM has been to develop and implement a robust training curriculum consisting of mandatory and elective courses to provide our departmental administrators and all other UM staff and faculty the resources to successfully managed sponsored awards. I am very happy to announce that we are ready to start rolling out Research Administration at the U (RAU).
The curriculum includes a total of 30 courses of which 17 are required for staff who provide pre- and/or post-award support. The courses are offered in a variety of formats including both in person and computer-based learning and lasting from 15 minutes to 4 hours to complete.
All new and current employees providing pre- and/or post-award support are required to take the mandatory courses. New employees will have a period to time to complete all courses, if they are not completed, access to systems such as IBIS and Workday will be removed until all courses are complete. Current employees are also required to take the training; however, we are providing a one-year period to be compliant. Additionally, those who took the 3-day comprehensive training offered by the Office of Research Administration several years ago may elect to take a test in lieu of the mandatory courses.
The courses will be in ULearn soon.
Please join me on Thursday, April 21st at 12:00 p.m. to discuss this topic further, I would love to hear from you!
