Born and raised in Japan, she brings a global and culturally informed perspective to her work. Dr. Matsuda’s research focuses on developing community-based, culturally tailored interventions to strengthen family health, with particular emphasis on parent–child communication, mental health, and maternal experiences that influence child outcomes within Latinx communities. In addition to her research, she teaches nursing and public health courses and is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of nurse scientists through education, professional service, and international collaboration. She has collaborated with Dr. Hernandez as well as other members of School of Nursing who are members of the Mailman Center and brings a unique perspective on cultural aspects of child and family health.
