Mailman Center Welcomes 2024-2025 Pediatric Psychology Residents & Practicum Students

The Mailman Center offers an accredited pre-doctoral clinical psychology internship program focusing on pediatric and clinical child psychology. For the 2024-2025 academic year, the center will host 7 Pediatric Psychology Residents: Alexandra Golik, Lauren Patrusky, Morgan Huenergarde, Carina Alvarez, Liz Halliday, Stephanie Talavera, and Nathalie Marinho, and 10 Pediatric Psychology Practicum Students: Terrance Knox-Lane, Elena Schiavone, Anya Urcuyo, Katherine Schmarder, Nona Kiknadze, Marah Selim, Elizabeth Lane, Shannon Shaughnessy, Lauren Milgram, and Chloe Golden


 

State of the Mailman Center

Join us Friday, September 27th at noon for the annual State of the Mailman Center address. Director Danny Armstrong, PhD, will provide updates on last year's highlights and share strategic planning initiatives. In person and virtual attendance.

Assistive Technology Program

Open House October 22nd from 12-4 PM

Join us on the 2nd Floor of the Mailman Center on October 22 from 12-4 PM for a FAAST Lab open house to learn more about Assistive Technology (AT) options available to help children with disabilities complete tasks at home and school. Food as well as AT Device demonstrations will be provided.

Concussion Clinic

Changing The Way We Diagnose Pediatric mTBI (mild traumatic brain injury)

Jennifer Coto, PhD presents: Changing The Way We Diagnose Pediatric mTBI during the Department of Pediatrics Grand Rounds on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. 

Dr. Coto is a pediatric psychologist who specializes in concussion and pediatric health and developmental disorders. She provides consultation services as well as neuropsychological evaluations at the Pediatric mTBI Concussion Clinic

Walter Lambert, MD

Department of Children and Families’ Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. Walter Lambert, MD, Medical Director of the Child Protection Team, was honored with the Department of Children and Families’ Lifetime Achievement Award during the 2024 Florida Children & Families Summit held September 4-6. This award was established to recognize Floridians whose contributions have led to significant outcome improvements or innovation. 

Dainelys Garcia, PhD

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy Trailblazer Advocacy Award

During the Parent-Child Interaction Therapy National Convention in Knoxville, Tennessee September 4-6, 2024, Dr. Dainelys Garcia was awarded the Trailblazer Advocacy Award.

Dr. Garcia specializes in the development and implementation of evidence-based interventions for disruptive behavior in young children from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and working collaboratively with community partners to improve access to care for historically underserved families. 

Step Up AT

Head Start Very Important Partner Award

The Mailman Center Step Up AT (Assistive Technology) program was honored with the Very Important Partner Award at the 2024 Pre-Service Awards Ceremony for Early Head Start/Head Start grantees on Friday, August 9th, at the Miami Airport Convention Center.
