The vice president spent two hours at the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science on Friday exploring climate change research projects and announcing a new initiative to fund climate-related projects in coastal communities.

About 50 research projects on the impacts of the climate crisis were featured at the event, with faculty members and students on hand to explain and answer questions about their work.

A group of 20 graduate students spent spring break in Chiloé Island learning about its unique environmental regulations as part of a class on coastal management.

The Butler Center for Service and Leadership recognizes students and faculty and staff members for exceptional academic success, service, and leadership in the community annually at the Celebration of Involvement.

The Graduate School has re-opened applications for the Graduate Student Travel Support. Degree-seeking master's and doctoral students at the University of Miami are eligible to apply for one-time travel support of an amount of up $1,000 to present at a scholarly conference or to present and/or attend a professional meeting. Preference will be given to students who are presenting. Apply by July 15, 2023, for travel dates between August 15, 2023, and December 15, 2023. Click here to learn more and apply.

The Dean of Students Office has an open paraprofessional position, Public Health Graduate Assistant, that will assist the Assistant Dean of Students and the Director of the Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Education in managing the programmatic operations of the Center. Currently enrolled graduate students who plan to continue with services at either the Student Health Service or Counseling Center must be enrolled for either the Summer 2023 term or Fall 2023 term and pay the summer health and counseling center fee. In addition, they must be in the State of Florida and local to the South Florida area to receive services as Telehealth services will continue to be provided in the summer. After May 19th, any student not meeting eligibility requirements will no longer be able to continue with services or begin new services with either the Counseling Center or Student Health Service. The Graduate School at the University of Miami hosted the 2023 Conference of Florida Graduate Schools (CFGS) on April 17th-19th. The UM Graduate School sponsored the participation of several graduate students. Emily Bosworth, Marissa Coppola, Rachel French, Kyle Grealis, Joelle-Ann Joseph, and Deepa Neupane gave poster presentations, and Acadia Moeyersoms competed in the Statewide Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition.
Congratulations to Acadia Moeyersoms for winning the First Place Prize and the People's Choice Award in the Statewide 3MT Competition!
