Yaa Abu, Jacob Rowe, Christine Ryan, and Jamie Burgess were selected from the Miller School of Medicine as this year’s Medical Faculty Association Best Research Award winners. The annual accolade recognizes Ph.D. candidates completing their dissertations.

The University of Miami's Information Technology department asks that all students connect to the CaneNet Wireless network, which is specifically for students and gives access to unlimited data, lightning-fast upload and download speeds, and more than 11,500 wireless access points. Applications Open for Chicagoland Postdoc Recruitment Initiative

The Postdoc Affairs Offices at Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Illinois Chicago are hosting the 2nd Annual Virtual Chicagoland Postdoc Recruitment Initiative on October 20-21, 2022. This is a collaborative initiative to improve diversity and inclusion at the three largest research universities in the Chicago area, with the goal of addressing the "pipeline" challenge in academia for historically marginalized graduate students and postdocs, including individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds. Position Open: Graduate Student Assistant for the Racial Justice Grant Program

The University of Miami’s Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, Office of Civic and Community Engagement, and the Butler Center for Service and Leadership organize the Racial Justice Grant Program to support research, service, and/or programmatic activities that center on race, racial justice, and racial equity. They seek to support teams of students, faculty, staff, and community partners to implement tangible initiatives to fight racism. This position is 20 hours per week and will be paid a monthly stipend of $2,000. The term of the position will be from August 22, 2022, to May 13, 2023, and may be renewed annually. Open Position: Research Assistant, Digital Media and Communication

The University of Miami’s Office of Civic and Community Engagement is seeking a part-time Research Assistant focused on developing digital media and communication outreach strategies to join its team of professionals. The Research Assistant will focus on creating and designing an outreach campaign to disseminate the research findings to our community. Department of Energy: Applications for Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Awards

The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science is pleased to announce that the Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program is now accepting applications for the 2022 Solicitation 2 cycle. Applications are due 5:00 p.m. ET on November 9, 2022. The SCGSR program supports awards to outstanding U.S. graduate students to conduct part of their graduate thesis research at a DOE national laboratory or host site in collaboration with a DOE laboratory scientist — with the goal of preparing graduate students for scientific and technical careers critically important to the DOE Office of Science mission. Premiere: Colored Lighting with Classical Music, Piano Recital by Tingting

Tingting Wu is a professional pianist and graduate student at the Frost School of Music. Wu is organizing an innovative recital event on campus, which will combine colored-lighting and classical music together, to help a more general audience to understand classical music. Sallie Mae Bridging the Dream Scholarship for Graduate Students

The Sallie Mae Fund, the charitable arm of Sallie Mae, announced it will again offer $100,000 in scholarships to students pursuing graduate degrees as part of the Bridging the Dream Scholarship for Graduate Students. In partnership with Thurgood Marshall College Fund, the Bridging the Dream Scholarship for Graduate Students helps minority students and those from historically underserved communities attend graduate school. The application will remain open until 11:59 a.m. ET on October 1, 2022. Click here to learn more and apply.
