Graduate Assistant position at the Office of Civic and Community Engagement

The Office of Civic and Community Engagement is seeking a part-time Graduate Assistant during the Spring 2021 semester for assisting and supporting the programmatic assessment of the Community Scholars in Affordable Housing (CSAH). This position is part-time, 10 hours per week and will provide $3,347.00 for the semester or $669.40/month. Interested students should submit their resume, letter of interest, and list of references to civicengagement@miami.edu. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until a candidate has been identified.

Nominations are open now for the 6th Annual Toppel Awards

The University of Miami's Toppel Career Center is proud to announce that nominations are currently being accepted for the 6th Annual Toppel Awards, which celebrate the accomplishments of students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and employers whose exceptional support makes possible the fulfillment of Toppel’s belief that “Career Services is Everybody’s Business.” Nominations must be submitted by Friday, January 8, 2021. Finalists and their nominators will be invited to attend the Toppel Awards Virtual Ceremony on February 23, 2021, via Zoom.

Training program for doctoral students researching drug abuse

The Enhanced Interdisciplinary Research Training Institute on Hispanic Drug Abuse (eIRTI) at the University of Southern California is now accepting applications for the 2021 Cohort.  The goal of the program is to provide pre-doctoral, postdoctoral, and early-career scientists interested in conducting drug and alcohol research that affects the Hispanic population with training, networking, and mentoring. Interested applicants should submit a curriculum vitae and a 1-2 page statement of research interests and career objectives, and 2 letters of recommendation to Erika Smith, MBA, MPH, erikague@usc.edu.  Applications received by January 31, 2021, will be given the best consideration. 

Earn $25 for participating in an interactive evidence map usability study

UM researchers are conducting a research study to evaluate the usability of an interactive evidence map. The study will take place online and each session will last about 45-60 minutes. Participants must be at least 18 years old to participate and full time UM students. Total compensation is $25.  Contact Prof. Millet at uxlab@miami.edu to schedule your session.

Participate in the Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge

The fifth annual Cisco Global Problem Solver Challenge aims to recognize new business ideas that leverage technology for social impact from early-stage entrepreneurs around the world. Prize money will help accelerate the adoption of breakthrough technology, products, and services that drive economic development and/or solve social or environmental problems. Cisco is seeking early-stage startups who have raised less than $1M USD in investment and/or revenue at the time of submission. Teams must submit a brief application, including a 90-second video about their technology, explaining how it benefits people, society, or the planet by January 29, 2021.
