To the University of Miami Community:

I write to share the news that Dr. Steven Altschuler, executive vice president for Health Affairs and CEO of UHealth, is resigning effective September 15, 2017 to pursue other interests in biotechnology.

During the past 18 months, Steve helped to launch the current restructuring of our health system, focused on providing innovative and integrated health care to our community. He led the University’s efforts to create a new single license University of Miami Health System. I am thankful that Steve has agreed to serve as a consultant to UHealth through the end of the calendar year to assist with this important transition.

Dr. Edward Abraham, dean of the Miller School of Medicine, will serve as acting executive vice president for Health Affairs and CEO of UHealth. In this role, Ed will continue to move forward the organizational efforts to fulfill our academic, research, and service missions.

Please join me in thanking Steven for his service and wishing him and his wife, Robin, the very best in the future.
