SELF-MADE: LEVERAGING FEAR, FAILURE AND CRISIS

Nely Galán is self-made media mogul. She was the first Latina President of Entertainment for a U.S. television network, Telemundo, an Emmy Award-winning producer of over 700 television shows in English and Spanish, and the founder of The Adelante Movement to empower and train Latina and multicultural women entrepreneurs.

Her entrepreneurship-for-women manifesto, Self-Made, is a New York Times best-selling book published in English, Spanish and Mandarin. Her next book, Don’t Buy Shoes, Buy Buildings! uses her experiences in real estate investment and development to advocate for women, teaching women how to build a passive income empire. Galán’s digital platform, BecomingSelfMade.com provides over 300 hours of free content geared to small business owners. Her podcast Moneymaker premieres in March on the Money News Network podcast channel. The Spanish version will be called Mi Mundo Rico.

Galan has a masters and doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on the psychology of money. She is an Emeritus board member of the Smithsonian Institute and has served on the board of directors of The Hispanic Scholarship Fund since 2008. She is also on the advisory board of The Aspen Institute and of Coca-Cola’s Hispanic Council.
