Spring Updates

Welcome to the Spring 2026 semester at the University of Miami! Our team members look forward to serving the University community by providing an array of parking and mobility services. To ensure a welcoming experience, please review the following updates.

What’s New for Spring 2026

Freebee

To better serve our growing campus community, we’ve expanded the Freebee transportation service based on user feedback. The updated map now includes Vox student apartments, Trader Joe’s, and several other popular destinations—making it easier than ever to get Canes where they need to go. For additional information and to access the updated map, visit Freebee. To access this service, request a ride through the UMiami App and choose the Freebee option. The program is available during active class days, Monday through Sunday, 7 p.m.-4 a.m.

Hurry 'Canes Shuttle

The Hurry 'Canes shuttles will operate at full service during the spring semester, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-10 p.m. We’re excited to announce two large covered pedestrian enclosures have been installed in the Gray Lots at the Liguria and Brescia stops. These enhancements provide added comfort and protection from the elements for those utilizing the Miller Shuttle route.

To enhance rider safety and improve the overall shuttle experience, the Hecht Athletic Center stop has been removed from the Miller Shuttle route.

This spring we will be connecting campus like never before. Starting on Monday, Jan. 12, a new shuttle route that links Centennial Village to Cesarano Plaza. Running Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–7 p.m., this service makes campus and transit access easier and more convenient for Canes. View the new shuttle route live on our shuttle tracking map.

Parking and Mobility

Spring Permits Available

Spring permits are now available to purchase. Log in to the parking portal and check for zone availability.

Alternative Mobility Options

The University is committed to providing safe and reliable parking, as well as cost-efficient transportation to help make Canes' commute a great experience. Below are ways Canes can navigate in and around the Coral Gables Campus with convenient transportation options.

Zipcar

Zipcar is an innovative car-sharing program that provides the convenience of having a car on campus without the commitment or expense of car ownership. Zipcar vehicles, including a hybrid car, are located at the University Village and Mahoney-Pearson Residential College parking lots.

Immobilization Program

To ensure parking availability for permit holders, the University is launching an Immobilization Program. Immobilization, commonly referred to as “booting,” provides an immediate and visible enforcement action for chronic violators of the University’s parking policies by helping deter repeat offenses. This initiative supports compliance with current campus parking regulations and enhances University operations. Please reference Citations and Immobilizations to learn more and review FAQs.

Micromobility Devices Policy

To maintain a safe and more accessible environment for all students, faculty and staff members, and visitors, the University continues to enforce its Micromobility Devices Policy.

Highlights

  • Riding is not permitted on pedestrian pathways, sidewalks, or within the campus core.
  • Use only designated roads (refer to the Micromobility Map).
  • Indoor storage and charging are prohibited due to fire risks.
  • Park only at designated outdoor racks; no parking near trees, benches, or handrails.
  • All devices must be registered with UMPD (free of charge). Registration includes a U-lock and decal for added security.

We encourage all members of our campus community to review the full policy and familiarize themselves with designated parking areas.

Electric Vehicle Charging on Campus

As part of the University's commitment to operational excellence and long-term efficiency, our EV charging program follows a demand-based pay structure to ensure sustainability and continued availability for all users.

Highlights

  • Charging Rate: $0.12 per kWh.
  • Daily Limit: Up to 4 hours of charging per vehicle.
  • Idle Fee: $0.40 per minute fee after the 4-hour limit.

These policies help us maintain and improve the program while aligning with our broader goals of responsible resource management and cost efficiency.

Parking on the Coral Gables Campus

Color zone restrictions are in effect beginning Monday, Jan. 12. A valid University parking permit is required to park on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Parking permits are available to purchase for certain zones. Log in to the parking portal and check for zone availability.
