Fall 2026

Welcome to the Fall 2026 semester at the University of Miami! Our team members look forward to serving the University community by providing an array of parking and mobility services. To ensure a welcoming experience, please be advised of the following updates.

Real-Time Parking Availability on the UMiami App

Following a successful pilot this spring, the Parking Availability feature is now available campus-wide through the UMiami App. This feature provides real-time parking availability across campus, helping commuters check parking conditions before arriving and plan their trips more efficiently.

New parking availability

Availability is displayed as High, Medium, Low to provide a quick snapshot of current parking conditions. Please note that parking availability is intended as a guide and does not guarantee an available space. Conditions may change quickly, and all parking regulations remain in effect.

Hurry 'Canes Shuttle

The Hurry 'Canes Shuttle will operate at full service during the fall semester, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., serving both the Orange Miller Route and Green Stanford Route on the Coral Gables Campus.

The Rosenstiel Shuttle will continue regular operations and will be enhanced by the new Rosenstiel Express Shuttle, offering direct service between the Vizcaya Metrorail Station and the Rosenstiel campus. For more information, visit UM Mobility.

Changes to Micromobility Devices on the Coral Gables Campus

As communicated, electronic scooters, e-bikes, hoverboards, electric skateboards, and other motorized micromobility devices are no longer permitted on the Coral Gables Campus. This change supports pedestrian safety, accessibility, emergency access, and life-safety objectives. Scooters identified on campus will be impounded or locked if found on campus. Limited staging areas have been designated along the campus perimeter for parking and storage of micromobility devices:

  • Brescia Shuttle Stop (Gray Lot 716)
  • Liguria Shuttle Stop (Gray Lot 721)
  • Along Ponce de Leon Boulevard, across from the Metrorail Station

What you Need to Know

  • Motorized micromobility devices are prohibited on campus.
  • These devices may not be brought into or charged inside campus buildings.
  • Shared, rental, dockless, and app-based devices are not authorized.
  • Electronic scooters will be impounded or locked if identified on the campus.
  • Mobility devices used by individuals with disabilities are exempt.
  • Traditional bicycles remain permitted.

Freebee

Freebee provides on-demand transportation between campus and designated nearby areas. Rides must either begin or end on campus. Request a ride through the UMiami App by selecting Freebee. The service operates Monday through Sunday, from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. For additional information and an updated service area map, visit our Freebee webpage.

Zipcar

Zipcar offers convenient on-campus vehicle access without the commitment of car ownership. Vehicles, including a hybrid option, are available at Albenga Garage, at the Lot 446 and at the Mahoney-Pearson Garage. For additional information and registration details, visit the Zipcar webpage.

Resident Student Parking Update

Effective Aug. 17, residents of Centennial Village, Eaton Residential College, and Lakeside Village will park in the Mahoney-Pearson Garage. The garage will remain accessible from Ponce de Leon Boulevard and connected to campus by a pedestrian pathway with security presence. Loading and unloading access at Lakeside Village will remain available.

Resident student permits are now on sale. Eligible on-campus residents, excluding University Village residents, may purchase a Teal permit. As a reminder, permit color restrictions are lifted daily from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m., expanding evening parking options across campus.

Electric Vehicle Charging on Campus

As part of the University's commitment to operational excellence and long-term efficiency, our EV charging program follows a demand-based pay structure to ensure sustainability and continued availability for all users.

Highlights

  • Charging Rate: $0.12 per kWh.
  • Daily Limit: Up to 4 hours of charging per vehicle.
  • Idle Fee: $0.40 per minute fee after the 4-hour limit.

These policies help us maintain and improve the program while aligning with our broader goals of responsible resource management and cost efficiency.

Parking on the Coral Gables Campus

Color zone restrictions are in effect beginning Monday, Aug. 17. A valid University parking permit is required to park on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Parking permits are available to purchase for certain zones. Log in to the parking portal and check for zone availability.

Metered/PayByPhone options are available in the Gray and Yellow zones between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays and available in all color zones after 4 p.m. and on weekends. Rates are $2.75/hour or $14/day.
