Sustainable Design
Sarah Hernandez is a senior student at the School of Architecture and she's passionate about sustainable design. During her internship, she assists the office of the Architect with the development of a guide to LEED Gold for new constructions, and creates a sustainable design project from salvaged material that will have a direct impact on our campus sustainability garden. Resident Recycle Right
Don't throw plastic bags in the recycling chutes/bins, it jams the equipment of the Pembroke Pines recycling facility. Instead, empty its content, and recycle your plastic bags in the white plastic bag recycling bin located in your residence's lobby. Watch the video.

Residents Compost at the U
Residents from Lakeside Village can now compost their veggie scrap the easy way! Residents collect their scraps in a Ziploc, place it in the mini fridge located in the LSV Food pantry (room 1054). Learn more.

The Sustainability Garden, adjacent to the Gifford Arboretum on the Coral Gables campus, is a living laboratory, vital community resource, and an examplar of resilience and well-being. The garden promotes and teaches environmentally friendly practices, provides experiential learning for students taking classes in biology, international studies, ecosystem, science and policy, and enables University's organizations and researchers to work in dedicated plots.
