The UM Sustainability Scholar Program’s goal is for students to further incorporate sustainability into their curriculum and cultivate leadership skills in promoting sustainability on campus and beyond. Students are encouraged to think critically about what economic, environmental, and social factors advance or inhibit long-term sustainability goals. Freebee expansion
Freebee provides free transportation both within campus boundaries and to certain areas within close proximity to the campus. Rides must either start or end on campus to be eligible to use the service. To use Freebee, request a ride through the UMiami App and choose the Freebee option. The program is available Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. through 4 a.m. We’re also excited to share that Freebee now includes Saturdays and Sundays from 7 p.m. through 4 a.m. as a pilot program for the Spring semester. Geothermal Energy at the U
The UC Pool is now heated and cooled with a Geothermal heat pump. Instead of using a traditional natural gas powered pump, the geothermal system uses the difference of temperatures between the surface and deep underground to provide heating or cooling without burning any fossil fuel. It brings a lot of benefits and considerably reduces the carbon footprint of that area of campus. Learn more
