ECO Spring Projects

Solar Bench in the Arboretum

Student Government ECO Agency recently partnered with Facilities and Dr. Feeley, Director of the Gifford Arboretum, to sponsor the installation of a Solar Bench along the Stone Circle path in the Arboretum. Come stroll along this hidden gem of the campus, sit down, meditate, and take in the beauty of Miami's campus while charging your phone on solar energy. Visit the Gifford Arboretum.

Heat Trapping Film at UC

ECO Agency, in partnership with the University Complex (UC) operations team, recently installed a heat trapping film on the UC Whitten windows. This type of technology avoids glazing while saving energy thanks to reduced AC loads. This film is not visible from the outside, but will reject much more solar energy than conventional window films. Visit ECO Agency.

Book Your Garden Lot!

This summer, staff members who don't have access to a garden at home will have a chance to book a small lot of the Sustainability Garden raised beds to start planning for the growing season. This arrangement allows participants who live in condos or townhouses to express their green thumb passion, and even try some edibles from their home country! Contact to book your lot (and keep in mind that its first come, first served.)

Toner Cartridge Recycling

Recycling your toner cartridges has never been so easy! Follow instructions on and ship your box of cartridges. If you have a UPS account, schedule a pick-up; if not, have the box picked up by UM Mailing Operations, or drop the box at the UPS store in Lakeside Village. Thanks in advance for helping our planet.
