Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit

The Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit, hosted by Second Nature and the Intentional Endowments Network, is the premier annual gathering of higher education leaders committed to addressing inequality and the climate crisis. The summit took place at the University of Miami this year, and all participants, from sustainability staff to leadership, engaged in a fruitful exchange—speaking to climate change challenges and how to collectively achieve carbon neutrality (read the News@TheU article). Sustainability Dashboard

The Coral Gables and Marine Sustainability Dashboard allows the Office of Sustainability to track performance in energy, water, and carbon emissions, with other categories coming soon. It reflects progress made since 2013, and identifies areas to improve for achieving our sustainable operation goals by 2035. Learn more.

Get rid of your desk trash can and get Green U certified in no time! Do you want to see more sustainable changes in your office? Green U is here to help! The version 2.0 of the Green Office program incorporates new suggestions, from picking the right products like Forest Stewardship Council certified paper or Fair Trade coffee, to helping the ones working remotely. Outdoor Adventures Bike Shop

Outdoor Adventures will launch a student-run bike shop for the fall 2023 semester. Stay tuned for more information throughout the spring and summer. Students interested in working as bike mechanics should email Trey Knight. Learn more.

 

ECO reps R2ZW

Campus Race to Zero Waste is an annual competition among universities in the United States which measures and compares campus waste reduction efforts over an eight-week period from February 1 to March 28. ECO reps are leaders in peer-to-peer education on Sustainable Living for student residents. If you are a resident and want to participate in the competition, talk to your building leader or contact ECO Reps Exec team: Reid Jansen and Ulyana Pogibelnaya.
