Green Buildings

Two years after its grand opening, the University of Miami's Lakeside Village has been awarded one of the most prestigious green building ratings—a LEED Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. Learn more.

Sneaker Recycling

The University of Miami School of Law's Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Graduate Program will launch "The Art of the Sneaker Deal," a two-day case study competition and conference, taking place on March 3-4. Starting March 3 until the end of the semester, 'Canes are invited to recycle their new or old, unused sneakers. Sneaker Impact bins will be located in the Hecht Athletic Center lobby, the Herbert Wellness Center lobby, and around campus. To know where your closest bin is, contact greenu@miami.edu.

Green Programs

Green Purchasing

The University of Miami has reduced its eco-footprint by increasingly going paperless. Watch a short video about how the U is reducing paper use. When ordering paper, we encourage you to choose 30% recycled Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified copy paper. For more information, visit miami.edu/greenpurchasing.

Green Lab

If you work, manage, or study in a lab, and you want to make it more sustainable, Green U is here to help! We invite you to take the freezer challenge, check out the VWR recycling programs at the Biomedical Research Building (BRB), download the Green Lab checklist, and plan a 15-minute audit with our team. For more information, contact greenu@miami.edu.
