Beginning this summer, the University of Miami will join a voluntary Florida Power & Light (FP&L) program to provide more solar energy to its campuses. The University will soon become one of the largest higher education institutions in Florida to harness solar energy to power nearly all of its campuses, allowing a drastic reduction of its carbon footprint. The Sustainability Garden in the Arboretum will have a weekly maintenance hour: Wednesdays from 4-5 p.m. Faculty and staff get 100 points on their Well 'Canes card for 1 hour of volunteering (2 hours = 200 points max).
