Green Workplace

Helping the Planet, One Coffee at a Time

There are a lot of sustainable practices we can adopt in the workplace to become better stewards of our environment. Through a recent initiative, Facilities Operations & Planning (FO&P) will offer each staff member a coffee tumbler — recognizing that paper cups, once used, are not fit for our single stream recycling system. Learning in the Garden

Help our Sustainable Garden in the Arboretum grow! Managed by a team of professors using the garden as a living lab for various curriculum contents, the garden is evolving each semester and offers a beautiful gateway to healthy minds and healthy ecosystems. If you wish to volunteer consult the schedule at miami.edu/garden.

Indoor Grow Walls

Indoor agriculture may well be the future of food, and UM students are exploring that path. Thanks to a partnership between Student Government ECO Board, Community Garden Club, Dining services, and UM faculty, two hydroponic Grow Walls have been installed on campus at the UC Whitten lounge and on the 2nd floor of the Ungar building. If you want to learn more or get involved, please contact Deven Reyes at dar227@miami.edu.
