Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science
From hammerheads to great whites, University of Miami researcher and alumnus Neil Hammerschlag, Ph.D. ’10, is a dedicated specialist on just about all things sharks. For the third year in a row, Hammerschlag is making appearances on the Discovery Channel’s widely popular Shark Week series.
“Shark Week is a powerful tool,” notes the UM researcher. “That’s how many people learn about sharks. A few years ago, Discovery decided to integrate more science into their shows to make them more educational and realistic, and that’s a great thing.”
