A team of alumni representing UM’s First Black Graduates Project visited the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture with artist Xavier Cortada, A.B. ’86, J.D. ’92, M.P.A. ’92, for a private tour of the museum. Cortada, a three-time UM alumnus and renowned Cuban-American artist, will create an original mural on the Coral Gables campus, drawn from inspiration from their trip, to commemorate and honor the trailblazers who helped shape the U of today.
