Get ready for UM Family Night with the Florida Marlins

As a way of showing its appreciation, the University is inviting all faculty and staff and their families to a fun-filled evening out at the ballpark.

University of Miami Family Night with the Florida Marlins, which will be held on Saturday, August 26, will include complimentary tickets and food for all faculty and staff, as well as discounted tickets for their family members. This University event will feature pre-game festivities, first pitches thrown out by President Donna E. Shalala and Provost Thomas J. LeBlanc—and, of course, great baseball, as the two-time world champion Marlins take on the Milwaukee Brewers. The game starts at 6:05 p.m. at Dolphins Stadium, and the pre-game festivities will take place from 4:35 to 6 p.m. in the Gate D Helix.

Complimentary tickets are available for faculty and staff only. Each employee can receive one free ticket and may purchase two guest tickets for $1 each. If you wish to obtain more than two guest tickets, additional tickets are $5 each. Each employee and their first two guests will also receive a complimentary meal voucher for a hot dog, chips, and soft drink. Parking at the stadium costs $10 and is not included.

You must have a valid UM ID to receive your tickets. Only one ID card per person will be permitted, and only cash will be accepted for additional ticket purchases. Ticket distribution on the medical campus will be held on Fridays, August 4, 11, and 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Schoninger Quadrangle.

Take a Tour of the New Medical Wellness Center

You’ve heard about the Medical Wellness Center, and you’ve taken the virtual tour (http://wellness.med.miami.edu/x9.xml), so you know that we’re the University of Miami’s new, 60,000 square-foot fitness facility.  The kinds of amenities one would expect only from an exclusive, commercial fitness club – saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools, and day/rental lockers – are all standard at the Medical Wellness Center, as well as a no-wait policy for all cardio equipment, and over 40 fitness classes from Ab Xpress to Zumba offered at convenient times every day.

Even so, you may not have joined yet because you've not seen the new facility. Here's a new opportunity to come and see the Medical Wellness Center for yourself: Join us on a “Hard Hat” Orientation Tour, where you and a small group will be escorted throughout our facility by our team of wellness coaches and support staff professionals, who will answer your questions and introduce you firsthand to the unique experience that awaits you.

While you may register for membership on-site, there is no obligation. If you do elect to join, there are no contracts to sign.  What we want is what you want--a healthier, happier you.
