the Year,” 18 longtime faculty members were honored for their commitment
to medical education—more than 600 years in total.
All of those recognized are members of the basic
science faculty. The “newest” faculty
joined the School of Medicine in 1974; the most senior faculty member—Irwin
Berman, Ph.D.—joined the school 45 years ago in 1959.
The recipients of the 2004 Faculty Educators Awards

professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. He joined
the School of
Medicine in 1974.
