The College of Arts and Sciences' Africana Studies Program, the Department of Art and Art History and Lowe Art Museum will host a silent auction to benefit the UM Global Institute, which has been instrumental in caring for injured victims in Haiti after the devastating January 12 earthquake. Artwork by several well-known artists, including Ming Fay, Humberto Calzada, Darby Bannard and Eduard Duval Carrie, will be up for auction. Also, Barth Green, M.D., professor and chair of neurological surgery and co-founder of Project Medishare, will speak. Suggested entrance is $10 and will be donated to the UM Global institute.

The event will take place this Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lowe Art Museum on the Coral Gables campus. Music will be provided by Jahfe, an 11-piece local reggae band with strong Haitian roots.
