Retiring neurobiologist Mary Bartlett Bunge, who with her late husband determined that Schwann cells were a key to repairing damaged spinal cords, made numerous contributions to The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.

This 16-year-old high school junior didn’t know a soul when he moved into a UM dorm for the Summer Scholars Program, but after making lifelong friends and earning college credits he proclaimed the experience “probably the greatest three weeks of my life”—which UM employees can offer their own high schoolers through the tuition remission benefit.
