Victoria Coverstone, professor and chair of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, is leading the research of a technology that will enable small satellites to carry large mirrors that fold at launch and reopen in space, improving the efficiency of space telescopes.

Finding Commonalities on the American Peace Caravan

Campus Rabbi Lyle Rothman, Jewish chaplain at the University of Miami Hillel, and Abdul Hamid Samra, an adjunct professor of electrical engineering who is an imam at a local mosque, were among 60 religious leaders from 20 states who joined the American Peace Caravan in Morocco to promote peace and understanding.
