Wimbley Brings Home the Gold

University of Miami alumna and Fort Lauderdale native Shakima Wimbley, third from left, added “world champion” to her long list of accolades, helping the United States win the gold medal in the women’s 4x400m final in a world-leading time of 3:19.02 at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London.

Eclipse Watch

Bring your eclipse glasses, or pick up a pair in the courtyard of the Knight Physics Buidling, adjacent to Wilder Auditorium, to safely watch nearly 80 percent of the sun disappear behind the moon over Miami between 2 and 3:30 p.m. on Monday, August 21, when the Physics Department hosts an eclipse watch.

Preview the Season

Faculty and Theatre Arts students will kick off the Ring Theatre’s new season at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 27 with a free performance of songs and scenes from five upcoming plays—Pippin, Romance Romance, Romeo and Juliet, The Mountaintop, and The Pirates of Penzance.
