This morning, members of the Association of Greek Letter Organizations (AGLO) were informed of major changes to the current expectations of tailgating at the Hard Rock Stadium.

University of Miami Greek organization leaders were informed by Dean Ryan C. Holmes, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, in writing of specific changes that will be instituted immediately for the Miami Hurricanes game against Virginia Tech, and for the remainder of the season. Prior to the Miami Hurricanes game against Syracuse, student leaders met with Dean Holmes and agreed to make changes to better prioritize student safety. Unfortunately, last weekend these measures were for the most part ignored by their members, and in fact, sadly, the behaviors led to an increase of serious incidents in the tailgating lot prior to the game.

As a result and in the interest of student safety, the following changes will be put in place for the remainder of the season:

1.) Lots 9 and 10 at the stadium will no longer be reserved for student organization tailgating, and private buses transporting UM students will no longer be directed to that area.

2.) The UM Fan Zone is the official UM tailgate and all buses transporting UM students will be directed to drop off in the UM Fan Zone location.

3.) Any student organization that chooses to tailgate on the Hard Rock Stadium premises, and creates an environment conducive to unsafe behaviors will be held responsible to the fullest extent of UM policies, regulations, and/or rules both organizationally and individually, where applicable. A “cease operation order” will be generated and will remain active until all disciplinary procedures have concluded.
