Dear Students,

Thank you for your continued cooperation with regular COVID-19 testing, use of the Daily Symptom Checker, and compliance with public health safety measures. It is because of your adherence to these guidelines that we have seen a dramatic reduction in COVID-19 cases on our campus since a spike in cases earlier this month.

As we continue to evaluate campus operations, I am pleased to inform you of the following updates, which are effective Monday, March 1:

  • The Hecht-Stanford and Mahoney-Pearson dining halls will return to in-person dining beginning with breakfast Monday morning.
  • Approved on-campus activities can resume providing food to attendees, but food must be served grab-and-go style and consumed elsewhere.

In order to continue limiting the spread of the virus on campus, the following measures will remain in place:

  • Continue to limit any informal on- or off-campus gatherings to no more than 10 people, with face covers and appropriate physical distancing required.
  • Continue to use the Daily Symptom Checker and maintain your weekly testing appointments if you will be on any campus for any reason.
    • Student testing on the Coral Gables Campus will pause for one day in observance of Wellness Wednesday (March 3). Testing on the Marine and Medical campuses will continue.
  • The current guest policy allowing a resident student to host one University-student guest between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. will remain in effect.

I am confident that with your continued vigilance and commitment, we can continue to have a productive and enjoyable remainder of the semester for everyone.

I look forward to seeing you at our Wellness Wednesday programming, which includes the return of Pancakes with Pat on the Intramural Fields. A schedule of events for the full day of virtual and in-person programming is available at miami.edu/ww.

Sincerely,

Patricia A. Whitely
