Dr. Martin Hyland is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine with expertise in pediatric neuromuscular disorders and clinical neurophysiology. Originally from Argentina, he graduated from the University of Buenos Aires and completed his Pediatrics residency at the Hospital Británico de Buenos Aires. He subsequently completed a Pediatric Neurology residency, served as Chief Resident, and pursued fellowship training in Child Neuromuscular Diseases and Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring at the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires.
Dr. Hyland’s clinical and academic work focuses on children with neuromuscular and complex neurological disorders that can significantly affect development and quality of life, often requiring coordinated care across neurology, rehabilitation, and developmental specialties.
At the University of Miami, he serves as Associate Director of Training in Child Neurology and is actively involved in the development of a Child Neurology Residency Program aimed at strengthening training and expanding access to specialized pediatric neurological care. He also serves as Chair of the Future Leaders of the International Child Neurology Association and is completing a Master’s degree in Health Professions Education, reflecting his commitment to mentorship, academic leadership, and the advancement of child neurology globally.
His work closely aligns with the mission of the Mailman Center by promoting interdisciplinary care, education, and research to improve developmental outcomes for children with complex neurological conditions.
