REDUCED COST PSYCHO-SOCIAL HELP FOR ELIGIBLE CANCER PATIENTS
The Courtelis Center for Psychosocial Oncology at UM/Sylvester, with support
from the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation, is now able to make counseling
services available to all patients with cancer. The Individual Cancer Assistance
Network (I CAN) allows patients & their families to take advantage of
counseling services with fees from $10 to $60 on a sliding scale depending
on the patient's income. There are a limited number of sessions and this
is a temporary program. Anyone can refer cancer patients or their family
members to this program and Courtelis Center counselors can assist participants
in English and Spanish. For more information or to refer a patient please
call Fariba Ostovary, A.R.N.P., at 305-243-4274 or Victoria Bustamante, Psy
D., at 305-243-4193.
IS THAT COMMENT CONSTRUCTIVE OR CRITICAL?
Is there a difference between feedback and criticism? Come and participate
in a seminar that focuses on understanding the difference between the two next
week, on August 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the fifth floor conference
room of the McKnight Vision Research Building. We receive feedback and
criticism from multiple sources including co-workers, supervisors, and
loved ones. Although it can be difficult to digest the feedback
we get from others, this seminar can help you learn how to put it to positive
use. Register online at http://www.miami.edu/development-training (click
on Register Here! in the left column) or call 305-284-5110.
