SCHOOL OF MEDICINE EXPANSION IS UNDER WAY
Work has begun on the new Clinical Research Building, parking garage, and Wellness Center. The goal is to complete this critical project as quickly as possible and to ensure the safety of our staff and patients in and around the existing PAC building. The overall project will take two years to complete, so we ask for your patience with any unavoidable disruptions.

As part of the site clearing, trees will be removed to allow for installation of utilities. All trees will be replaced with Mahogany, Royal Palms, Date Palms, and other species. Landscaping plans call for nearly three times as many trees to create beautiful outdoor public spaces similar to the Schoninger Research Quadrangle. The Black Olives in front of the PAC will be replaced with Mahogany trees that will provide shade over a new and widened 14th Street sidewalk.

A temporary valet parking entrance has been provided for the existing PAC building. The entrance will be reconfigured several times during construction as trenching occurs around the building. You will be notified of the reconfigurations in advance so that you can inform staff and patients. Valet service will not be interrupted.

Construction of such a large project on such a small site will be challenging. We will keep you informed of any necessary street or sidewalk closings during construction. If you have any concerns or questions, please call Richard Jones, associate director of planning and construction, Real Estate Division, 305-243-5802. Leave a message and your call will be promptly returned. We appreciate your understanding of any small inconveniences we may encounter during the School’s ambitious expansion from good to great.
