SPONSORED ACCOUNTS – SYSTEM CONVERSION
The Information Technology Office is scheduled to begin a conversion of sponsored account numbers in early October. Currrently, sponsored account numbers (accounts that begin with the digit 6) contain six numeric characters. Because we are running out of numbers we must start using alpha characters in the last position of the sponsored account number and eventually in the last two positions. For example, a current sponsored account number may be 661234. Starting in October, when new sponsored accounts are assigned, the number may be 66123a or 66123A (the alpha characters will be interchangeable between capital and lower case letters). The purpose of this notice is to alert departments that use departmental computer systems, i.e., Grants Manager. Please take appropriate action to ensure that the alpha character(s) will be accepted by the system you are running. This conversion will not affect existing sponsored account numbers. It will affect new sponsored accounts assigned after October. Questions can be referred to Terry Diaz in the Controller’s Office at tadiaz@miami.edu or to Bob Burns in Information Technology at bobb@miami.edu.

GOLF TOURNAMENT TO FIGHT HEART DISEASE
