SAFETY TIPS FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety suggests the following
tips to keep your holidays safe: artificial Christmas trees should
have a “fire resistant” label, and make sure natural
Christmas trees are watered daily. All decorative lights, as well
as floodlights, extension cords and other devices, should be U.L.
rated and approved for use. Inspect all lights for frayed or bare
wires, never use electric lights on a metal tree, and turn off all
Christmas tree lights when you leave. Use only flame-resistant decorations
and keep lighted candles away from trees and decorations. Turn off
all portable electric heaters when you leave and remember, never
drink and drive. Have a safe and happy holiday!
