MEDICAL SCHOOL ANNOUNCES VP FOR ADMINISTRATION
John M. Deeley will join the School of Medicine in January as vice president for administration, operations and planning. Mr. Deeley is currently the vice dean for administration at the New York University School of Medicine, overseeing all administrative functions including finance, information technology, facilities planning, and human resources.

In his five years at NYU, Mr. Deeley worked with Dean Robert M. Glickman to develop a 10-year growth and development plan that included ambitious recruitment of faculty, a new 220,000-square-foot research building, and renovations of existing research facilities. He recruited a new administrative team and presided over restructuring of the clinical practice and the hospitals associated with the school.

Before joining NYU, Mr. Deeley spent 20 years at Harvard Medical School, most recently as administrative dean for finance and business. Among his accomplishments at Harvard were development of a financial plan that resulted in the creation of more than $600 million in capital programs, and creation of an information technology department.

In his new position Mr. Deeley will report directly to Dean Clarkson. He will have administrative, operational and planning authority in the areas of business and finance, human resources, information technology, facilities and operational support services, and overall school planning. He will help engineer our expansion, devising a strategic planning process for research, clinical care and medical education.
