AFFIRMATIVE ACTION OFFICE
NAME CHANGE
The Affirmative Action
Office under the direction of Wilhemena Black has changed its name to
Equality Administration to more accurately reflect its broad scope of
responsibility. In addition to implementation of the University's Affirmative
Action Plan, the department has responsibility for overseeing compliance
efforts with numerous federal, state and local fair employment laws, including
sexual harassment, discrimination complaint management, minority procurement,
providing technical assistance on EEO matters and conducting educational
awareness seminars. The office assists the University in achieving diversity
and promoting fair and equitable treatment in all aspects of employment
opportunities and educational endeavors for students, employees and applicants
of the University. The Minority Procurement Program was transferred to
this office last year and has been renamed the Business Development Program
"for minority and woman owned businesses". The office conducts outreach
and recruitment efforts to develop procurement opportunities for minority
and woman vendors with the University. The Equality Administration Office
has two locations: Medical Campus, Professional Arts Building, Room 710,
and Max Orovitz Building, Room 104. The change to Equality Administration
is effective immediately and the office appreciates your continuing support.
